A heartfelt tribute to Tomas Legrand: a Guiding Light of UP University
It is with immense sadness that we, at the Università del Piemonte Orientale (UPO), learned of the tragic passing of Tomas Legrand, former Rector of Artevelde University of Applied Sciences, and Chairman of UP University. The news of his sudden departure has left us heartbroken, and our thoughts are with his beloved wife and children during this immeasurably difficult time.

It is with immense sadness that we, at the Università del Piemonte Orientale (UPO), learned of the tragic passing of Tomas Legrand, former Rector of Artevelde University of Applied Sciences, and Chairman of UP University. The news of his sudden departure has left us heartbroken, and our thoughts are with his beloved wife and children during this immeasurably difficult time.
We at UPO owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to Tomas. As the visionary co-founder and esteemed chairman of the UP University, he was the driving force behind our inclusion. He not only encouraged our entry but actively championed it with infectious enthusiasm and sincerity. His belief in the power of partnerships beyond borders was unwavering, and it was his dedication that helped shape the global identity of our institutions, enriching us all. He truly was a beacon of leadership and an inspiration.
Tomas Legrand will be deeply missed, but his legacy of kindness, collaboration, and profound humanity will forever resonate within our hearts and within the UP University he so passionately fostered. We are honored to have crossed paths with such a remarkable man and will cherish the memory of his invaluable contributions. His spirit will continue to inspire us as we carry forward the international partnerships he so ardently supported.

La professoressa Anna Chiara Invernizzi è "Novarese dell’Anno 2025": al Broletto la consegna del Sigillum
La docente del DISEI ha ricevuto la massima onorificenza cittadina per il suo impegno che unisce competenza accademica e solidarietà sociale. Durante la cerimonia del 20 gennaio, nella Sala dell'Arengo del complesso del Broletto, sono stati premiati anche Danila Finzi, presidente dell'AVO, e Fra' Marco Costa dei Frati di San Nazzaro.

Alessandra Gennari valutatrice della ricerca di eccellenza sui tumori del seno per l’American Association for Cancer Research
L’American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) ha invitato la professoressa Gennari (Dipartimento di Medicina traslazionale, Università del Piemonte Orientale) a unirsi al Scientific Review Committee per i finanziamenti alla ricerca sul cancro al seno. Un incarico di prestigio internazionale che vedrà la Docente UPO impegnata fino al 2028 nella selezione dei progetti più promettenti a livello globale per sconfiggere la patologia, all’interno della più antica e vasta organizzazione mondiale in questo ambito.
